Bob Kister is a lifelong resident of Missouri who grew up in north St. Louis County. He attended St. Louis University High School, Grinnell College (Iowa), and received his Juris Doctorate from Washington University Law School in 1980. Since graduation, he has focused upon civil trial work, particularly in the fields of workers compensation, and personal injury (including medical malpractice, vehicular and premises liability, products liability, insurance law and business litigation).
Bob has also been a proud sponsor of "A night of supperstars" an annual event that honors 22 children who succeed in life despite physical or mental impairment.
Bob was a senior founding member of a Jefferson County Firm of Dodson, Breeze, Kister, and Roberts. After twenty four years with this firm, he established his current office in 2004 in Herculaneum, Missouri. In his civil trial career, Bob has tried to conclusion over 100 jury trials, an astonishing number. He has handled over 26 separate cases in the State and Federal Appellate Courts as well as innumerable Bench and Administrative trials. In addition to being a member of the American Bar Association, Missouri Bar, and the St. Louis and Jefferson County Bar Associations, Bob is a member of the American Association of Trial Attorneys, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and Lawyers for Equality. In addition to his civil practice, Bob has eighteen years experience as a city attorney for the cities of Festus and Crystal City Missouri, and concurrently handled municipal prosecutions for both cities. Bob has also been an author and editor of research publications for the Missouri State Bar.
Bob has been consistently involved in community matters, beginning with involvement in the acquisition, planning, and development of West City Park in Festus, and continuing today. He is a member and Past President of the Twin City Area Chamber of Commerce. Bob has been a member and past president of the Twin City area Kiwanis Club, the Festus Bi-Centennial Committee, Elks Lodge 1721, and the Jaycees. He has provided pro-bono services for numerous indigent people through Legal Services of Missouri.
Bob has coached youth sports (Bob "lettered" in NCAA Division III sports of football and track at Grinnell College in Iowa) for the YMCA, the JFL, and other organizations. He was Chairman of the River Trails District for the "Friends of Scouting" fund raising committee of the Boy's Scouts and has performed both professional and volunteer services for the Festus R-6 School District. Bob resides in Rural Festus. Bob is the proud father of his two sons, Mike and Mat Kister. Also both sons have become involed in the community.
